Digital Manuscript Enhancement
In 2019, researchers at Cambridge discovered that there were fragments of a 7th century Torah scroll at multiple locations.
Two segments at Cambridge (T-S AS 37.8 + T-S AS 36.19) are the earliest remnants we have of two chapters in the Tefillin.
To facilitate readability in the Siddur, we had to increase contrast and brightness, remove the background, convert to greyscale and digitally warp the image so the two pieces lined up.
1. The Israeli Prayer Rite Blessing of Modim which is almost unreadable.
2. After processing, it is possible to read the text.
“מודים אנחנו לך כורעים ומשתחוים אתה הוא יי אלהינו ואלהי על כל הטובות החסד והרחמים…”
